On October 28, 2024, at approximately 1:20 PM, a vigilant police officer from SPL RT mobile duty, Sub-Inspector Biswajit Das, observed suspicious activity in Kalukhali Brize, located in Rajanagar under the jurisdiction of Raninagar Police Station, Murshidabad. The officer noticed an individual carrying a loaded sack, prompting immediate action. The suspect, identified as Shukchad Mondal, a 26-year-old son of the late Gurupada Mondal, hails from Char Rajanagar, Raninagar. Upon conducting a thorough search, authorities discovered a total of 172 bottles of Phensedyl cough syrup in his possession. This significant seizure has raised concerns about the ongoing drug trade within the region. Following the arrest, the police registered a case under Raninagar PS Case No. 655/24 dated October 28, 2024, invoking sections 21(c) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Mondal is set to be presented before the learned court tomorrow, with a plea for 7 days of police custody to facilitate further investigation. The recent incident underscores the commitment of local law enforcement to tackle drug-related issues in Murshidabad.
