On 16.09.2022,a fisherman namely Manik Sheikh s/o jharu Sheikh, age-50 years, vill-Joykrishanpur, PS-Jalangi, Murshidabad, WB, made an entry at picnic point (OP No. 1)for the purpose of fishing . At about 0600 hrs No. 870012411 ASI Suresh Kumar along with 02 M/CT took Charge of OP No. 01. OP Party observed suspected activity of Manik Sheikh, Who was fishing by Donga (Local boat) in the Matabhanga River (distance from OP/Picnic Point approx 150 mtr and from the bank of the river approx 05-15 mtr) sensing him as suspect from his activities, ASI Suresh Kumar called CT/WW Satyajit Das and along with M/CT China Khatun followed silently Manik Sheikh. As the party reached near to Manik Sheikh they challenged, in response Manik Sheikh came to the river bank by his Donga(local boat) and run towards BD side. ASI Suresh Kumar Vigillantly caught Manik Sheikh with a gunny bag approx 200 mtr from IB in Indian territory. The incident was reported to Sh Shantanu Singh, AC, Coy Comdr. The Coy Comdr immediately rushed to the spot and arrested Manik Sheikh. After examining the Gunny bag 49 bottles of JD liquor and 01 donga (local boat) seized from the spot. Manik Sheikh along with seized items brought to BOP Jalangi for further legal action.
